Paige’s Palm Springs Inspired Patio

Goodness I feel like it’s been a long time since I have written! I think I have finally delegated enough tasks from my photo business that I can put more energy into this blog. Hold your applause, please. I know it’s an overwhelmingly exciting announcement.

Welcome to my backyard! The kids and I have spent countless hours out here and it was a major selling point when I was purchasing this home. It’s big enough to have a pool, trampoline, jungle gym thing, swing set, sandbox, large shed and there is still plenty of room to add on my dreamy master suite I am in the process of planning.

I’m not sure how much this patio will change when the addition begins, but I know the rinky dink basically foil roof will be replaced. Like the Middle Class Fancy instagram account said, you know you have made it when you have a patio with strings of lights on it. That was exactly the meme I was needing to make me realize that I have arrived!

I had been wanting this Letterfolk mat for a while, I waited until it went on sale and it’s the cutest thing! Kylie recently followed one of their online patterns and did the “Home” design.

All of my outdoor furniture was pretty affordable and my love for throw pillows continued right on out the back door onto my inexpensive set up. I’m glad I didn’t splurge because Blake ate cherries out there all summer and left the pits. They made stains all over the place. Cue “this is why we can’t have nice things” Thank you T. Swift.

That blue plant is just an ugly amazon plant spray painted. I like the funky look it gave an otherwise bleh plant. These side tables and outdoor rug have help up so well, I love both! Garden stools are a great way to add some personality to your patio, a lot of bang for your buck.

I know we had the instagram discussion at the beginning of the summer on what is the best way to organize the pool towels. I went with the roll and stuff method. Not to be confused with Snoop Dogg’s stuff and roll method. That is an entirely different, but also valid skill.

My theory for a low maintenance lifestyle is that if you are not one of my 4 kids, my cat, my dog or my axolotls, I do not want to worry about keeping you alive. When it comes to plants, faux is my friend. I glued these L-O-V-E letters to the wall, either that or I command stripped them. I can’t remember. I never would have thought I would be excited about a hose, but here I am stoked about a hose and equally as stoked about the cute box that hides the hose.

Here is the patio before I bought the home from the real estate listing photos.

I wanted that Palm Springs look around my pool. The problem with this look is that so many of those incredibly cute umbrellas come with a price tag that is my entire month’s worth of spending money. I found a cheaper version for this season and one day I will have the really nice ones. These lounge chairs were also a great price and still look perfect after all the use.

These little canopy chairs are my favorite! I added some flamingo hooks for towels and a bird house that no bird lives in.

It should come as no surprise that I painted the shed the same color as my front door (Benjamin Moore Pink Starburst). The green and taupe was a little too country cottage for my likings. A couple of flamingos and some bundles of fake flowers in the window boxes and it’s a pretty cute little situation! Please don’t burn down my she shed. Cheryl went through enough for all of us. Plus, all I have in there is a beat up cornhole game, some huge building blocks, pool stuff and an outdoor coffee table that I didn’t read the description on and it’s the shortest stubbies weird looking table.

I wanted to show you my new and improved landscaping on your way out!

But first, take a look at it before I moved in…

It was cute and fine, nothing was terrible, but making this home my own has been one of my greatest joys! This is my 6th home to own, but my 1st one to own all by myself. That feeling trumps the feeling I get when I look at my patio lights and remember that I have, in fact, made it.

The landscaping in a desert, xeriscape, Palm Springs vibe made such a difference! I have had to forgive and forget the handful of times I have been spiked and pricked and had to dig tiny cactus spikes out of my rookie gardener hands. This is even with gloves! I need more intense gloves.

Thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for more updates on my home and if you haven’t seen the bathroom or dining room go check them out!
