Ahhh the heart of the home. Lots of thought went into this space as Nick and I began the building process. We wanted an open flow, lots of natural light and an area behind the kitchen for food prep hiding messes, etc. while entertaining.
We still have some finishing touches but I am in love with how it all turned out.
Barstools needed to be something that I could easily wipe down. You’ve seen my 4 year old. I love these wooden ones, they are surprisingly comfortable and easy to keep clean.
The two pocket doors separate the main kitchen from the prep space.
I was worried that there wouldn’t be much natural light coming in through the pocket doors so my mother in law had the brilliant idea of making the two cabinets with glass doors. It really brightens up the area and is one of my favorite features.
Here is a before shot….gold trim has since been added to the hood. We used Sherwin Williams Greek Villa throughout the house. It’s a really great white that has a little bit of warmth to it.
Behind me is our breakfast area….the two doors (that I really wish I would’ve shut for this pic) lead into my laundry and match the pocket doors in the kitchen.
We added a brass trim from a metal shop here in Dallas. It cost us about $30 and really dressed up the space.
And through the pocket doors is this…
The prep kitchen. Nick wanted a more industrial feel but I still wanted some pretty. I think its a nice combo. We have a ton of storage, which I love.
My plan is to add some floating shelves to the wall on the right and a plug behind the big cabinets to store the coffee maker and toaster. That way my counter space will be clean and appliances will be hidden.
My dad bought us the Salvador Dali that can be seen through the pocket doors. Nick really likes meaningful art, his parents also collected Dali’s so he wanted to hang this one in a spot where he could see it often. What a cute little softy.
The beverage fridge may be my very favorite part of the kitchen. Cheeeeeers!
Microwave, oven, warming drawer, huge sink and an extra dishwasher will all come in handy when we have our extended family over for holidays. Opa!
Thanks for stopping by.
