Paige’s Kitchen

No such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen at my house, come on in, take a look around and cook me something nice while you are here! Frozen food in the air fryer is absolutely acceptable and chips and dips are considered a food group.

Side note: I will go so far to say that the air fryer is one of the best inventions of our time. My daughter Blake and I talk about how it has changed our lives and we do a little air fryer dance. I put frozen food in there, make toasty, melty restaurant quality sandwiches, and leftover fries will never be a soggy spongey mess again.

TBH, I am kind of wishing I posted my kitchen before Jeni’s. You don’t put the epic grand finale at a concert before the moderately decent song that people get up and go get another beer during. But in all seriousness, I really do love this kitchen! It’s simple, large, where we spend a lot of time and was a big reason why we chose this house years ago.

You can see the kitchen that I designed for the home that Zach and I custom built here. After we separated, Zach stayed at the new house, and I moved back into the old house. I hope he loves it and makes lots of memories with the kids in that kitchen. The only complaint I have heard from the kids about it is that the refrigerator doesn’t have a water dispenser on the outside and it’s hard to scoop the ice out.

This island rivals the size of Epstein’s. JK. Too soon.

There is tons of storage in the island on both sides, the dishwasher and trash can cabinet are on either side of the sink. I DO NOT like having a sink in my island. Dishes pile up around it, it stays pretty messy and if I have a say in my next home, I will have the sink elsewhere.

I do love how many barstools you can fit, I currently have 4, but could easily fit 6 and have before. Oh wait, did I say barstools, I mean counterstools. Don’t make the mistake I did and order barstools for your counter height island unless you have almost completely flat thighs. I spent way too much on our first round of barstools when we first moved in and learned a hard, expensive and minimal leg room lesson.

White cabinets and black granite countertops are what the designer had selected when we purchased the house halfway through construction. I loved the look so we kept it. The black counters are easy to keep clean and have survived the Walker crew.

You can’t go wrong with white subway tile. The herringbone detail really adds some pizazz as I’m cooking a culinary masterpiece on each of the 6 burners all at once for my fancy guests at my exclusive dinner party.

Lighting is the jewelry of the home they say. The cheap black lanterns the house came with were replaced with these beauties. I used to think cleaning these was difficult until I came across the Go Clean Co account on Instagram. A microfiber rag and some hot water is all you need to make these so clear a little bird would try to fly through it.

Moving over to one of the most used areas, the coffee stuff. I have my coconut mocha coffee in the apothecary jar, sugar in the white canister and lighters for my candles in the pineapple (coincidentally right by the snoop cook book…puff, puff, pass snizzle dizzle!). I can’t let my kids know about these lighters for fear that Blake will try and roast cheez-its again like she did with the fireplace pilot light 6 years ago. Also it turns out that “don’t play with fire” isn’t necessarily the best phrase to use. She didn’t think she was “playing” with fire while roasting the cheez-it or while testing to see if a paper towel will burn.

The Snoop Dogg cook book is funny and makes a great white elephant gift, but the Defined Dish is the delicious healthy cookbook that Jeni and I are making our way through! Highly recommend!!

I like things that are coloful, silly and quirky like me! The enjoy mug is just one of a few funky coffee mugs I got the other day to make my collection a little cuter. These are all a cheap way to add some happy to your life.

The giraffe paper towel holder, seen here in his natural habitat, is a good dude.

The curtains in the background are discontinued, but they have a similar pattern still available. They have looked great for 6 years and I have them on every window in the kitchen and living room.

In my mind, Jonathan Adler knocks it out of the park over and over again and I had to have this Puppy Uppers canister for Waffles’ treats.

You know how much we love Coppell Candles and I have the Kumquat one burning in the kitchen almost every day (use code STYLE10). I also love the Burlap Bag. Their candles have such funny names and unique scents.

If you are looking for a book for cheese and snack board inspiration, definitely check out Beautiful Boards! My mom and I went crazy over it after I got it as a Christmas gift from Jenny V at the annual favorite things party last year!

And yes that’s a japanime cat sticker on the pot of that janky plant that I can’t believe is still alive. Cue Taylor Swift This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.

There you go! It’s usually messy, loud (lately it’s way too many “Alexa, do beatbox”) full of energy and looks like the above picture for 10 minutes on Thursdays when my beloved housekeeper leaves. I noticed lime green jell-o smudged on one of the upper cabinets and dog food scattered all over the floor AFTER I thought I had thoroughly prepared it for photos, that’s how we actually roll.
