Paige’s Bachelorette Pad | Palm Springs Inspired Exterior

I revealed some details about the new house and showed y’all my fun living room plan in the last house post. You may want to read that first for some background info.

After much consideration, I’m stoked to show you the exterior plan! I can usually make a really quick decision, but I went back and forth on this door color for way too long. Then, once I was sold on pink, I went back and forth on different pinks for way too long. I finally just picked one and stuck with it and it didn’t hurt that it was called “Pink Starburst.”

The below image is how the house looks currently. Well, if we are going to get technical, the pole has been knocked down, the light fixtures have all been removed and the flower box is going soon. I bought wall sconces to replace what is there now. However, the electrician took down the original ones and told me they were solar powered and just for decoration and there was no power to them. I prefer the clean look with no decorative fixtures anyway, so the ones I purchased are all heading back to the land of Amazon.

I’m hemorrhaging money right now, so anything that can be returned is a hashtag blessing.

Just looking at this little design makes me giddy! How lucky am I to get to be as ballsy and risky as I want?! Such a feeling of freedom. My ex was always very tolerant of my style, but I kept his feelings in mind and never went full out PaigeWee. Until now.

There are a lot of Palm Springs MCM style homes in my new neighborhood. I have scoured the hood looking at doors and color schemes and I saw a lot of bright white houses with bright yellow, orange, lime green, turquoise and even some gorgeous magenta doors that I MUST show y’all a picture of some time soon. BUUUUUUT, I spied with my little eye no pink, and I love being a little bit different, so that was good news for me and my pink starburst door.

Paint

Brick: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

Windows: Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black

Door: Benjamin Moore Pink Starburst

Lighting

The globe light is what I was planning on having where all of the other lanterns were, but now I will just have one on the back patio. I wasn’t going to mess with the porch light, but the more I change, the more things I thought were “just fine” are becoming “let’s just change it while we are doing all of this”.

Wall Decor

That raggedy old pole that I mentioned had the house numbers on it. I didn’t need a raggedy old pole, so buh bye now. These adorable house numbers are going up on the brick in a diagonal. The mailbox is a little flimsy and I really loved this mid century one with the classic design.

Door

The existing door is nice, it just didn’t match the style I had in mind. After researching and looking at all things Palm Springs architecture, the majority of the doors are solid and of course bright cheery colors. Big bold door hardware is also really popular, so I got the biggest chunkiest one I could that was within a price point I was comfortable with. The lion knocker is a nice contrast to the pink color and adds some interest. They already have a big ring doorbell system installed so I don’t have to get one of those.

Front Porch

The black and white stripes will be painted on. I’m just having the painter paint the porch white and I will go back and paint on the black stripes. This welcome mat is durable, cute and modern. Check, check and check!

Landscape

This is going to be a big undertaking. I need to decide if I want to pay someone to do it or just figure it out on my own. I guess it depends on the price and my ambition levels. I’ve been looking into xeriscaping and what plants do best in my area. I’m wanting that succulent, cactus, gravel Palm Springs vibe. The back yard I will deal with landscaping way later.

Back Porch

This is the back porch now. It’s a fairly large size and I plan on spending a lot of time outside. The yard was such a big selling point and I want to make it such a jolly little zone and really utilize the space.

I found the cuh-utest stuff at really great prices. I’m not sure how much of the porch this will fill up, but it’s a good start! I love everything, with the exception of the teak coffee table that is ridiculously short. I don’t recommend unless you are planning on sitting on the ground, but for $89 it will do.

I don’t even want to think about pool furniture yet because all of this is a bit overwhelming, but I have cabana striped umbrellas dancing in my head.
