I headed to Nordstrom last week for a makeup refresh. It’s my favorite place to shop for cosmetics because 1. They have all of my favorite brands in one spot and 2. There are knowledgable employees to help! I’ve never been a big makeup girl, so I need all the help I can get. If I can’t do it in under 10 minutes then its not going to get done. I also like a more natural look and cannot stand makeup that feels thick or caked on.
We started with a setting spray. I’ve seen people talk about their love for this stuff but I never really understood its purpose. Think of it as a way to prep your skin by hydrating it before makeup. This allows your makeup to go on more smoothly and you will use less product. Bonus, it smells good.
Next up, concealer. I had seen this Charlotte Tilbury concealer a lot on social media and was curious to try it out. I love the little sponge on the end that allows you to dab it on easily. It doesn’t settle into your fine lines and really brightens up the eye. This is definitely a purchase that I’ll be replenishing when it’s out.
Time for a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. I wanted something with some coverage that didn’t feel heavy. This YSL foundation was suggested and I’ve been super impressed. Its lightweight and has a nice luminous finish.
I went with Charlotte Tilbury again for the bronzer/highlighter duo and decided on a cream blush. My skin has been dry and I feel like this blush gives a more dewy, moisturized appearance.
Brows and Lips. I stayed faithful to my favorite brow pencil and tried out a few of these glosses.
If you listen to nothing else in this entire post listen to this…at the very end of my makeup session a finishing powder was suggested. I tried to let her down gently, I don’t like powder. “This is will make you look airbrushed,” she said. Umm sign me up. This stuff is magic y’all! She just dabbed it with a big makeup brush under my eyes and a little on forehead, not all over like a typical powder. It seriously makes your face look like a snap chat filter. I am obsessed. Buy this NOW.
What is your newest must have makeup? It’s always fun to try new things and with spring just around the corner its the perfect time for a makeup refresh.
I loved this post!
Thanks Meagan! 🙂
DO you still use the bare minerals foundation you previosly mentioned?
I do! I bought the YSL in a darker color for spring/summer. I like the bare minerals for winter it’s just a little light for me when I have a spray tan.
Which shade of finishing powder did you get? Great review!
Thanks Missy, I got the medium and its still on the lighter side.
LOved this article. Not a huge make up girl either, so this was Great info for Me.
I’m so glad! Thanks for reading.
Why do I want to buy all of these products now?!?! Like all of them.
Same! And I think I did lol.
