Aven’s 10th birthday party sleepover

Can we please ignore the fact that Aven turned 10 in January and her party wasn’t until August? Sometimes it be like that.

I waited a little long to pull the trigger on hiring a sleepover tent company, so I went for the DIY route. I didn’t full on craft a dang thing, but I did piece together a slumber party that Aven loved and I got to keep everything so I can reuse it, or even sell it.

It turned out pretty cute and Aven was excited about having a lot of the creative control.

The plan started when I found these tents for $29.99 and knew I could probably use them for many more sleepovers.

These mattresses are inexpensive and another thing I will be glad to have when the kids have friends over.

We added cute pieces of flair, some of which we had already, some of which I purchased.

Running around, day of the party, in the rain…

We got the girls pajamas with their initial embroidered on the pocket. They loved them! They also got to keep the blankets which are only $17.99 and look absolutely nothing like the picture that Saks used. Still cute though.

The girls were squealing and loud and my sensory overload was kicking in like Bruce Lee which meant I kicked them all out to the pool. Go burn some energy my loves! My construction zone backyard is anything but party ready, so luckily they were cool with obstacle coursing it out there. I turned them on the Today’s Top Hits Clean playlist on Spotify and took out my speaker I am absolutely obsessed with. They were so cute with their singing and shenanigans.

After swimming, they changed into their pjs and made slime. I highly suggest this activity. It makes a colossal mess, but also kept them engaged for so long. I bought these two kits and some extra jars so they could take home what they made and it was for sure a hit.

It wouldn’t be a proper sleepover without some spa treatments, all of the girls got little baskets with fun spa stuff.

When I was younger we called it “rolling”. The vandalizing act of throwing toilet paper all over your crushes or some other unsuspecting friend’s yard. The term rolling was also used in high school regarding MDMA, but this is not the time to get into that haha. The kids these days have gotten less messy and come up with a new take on the old nasty activity. The product of choice is now caution tape. They talked me into taking them “caution taping” and it brought back lots of hilarious memories.

What do you do if you want to be inconspicuous and sneaky whilst string caution tape all over someone’s yard?

You wear glow stick jewelry. Duh!

It took us about an hour to decide on and caution tape two houses. They sang at the loudest possible decibel level and they sang in cursive. IFYKYK. They lived their best life.

Last on the agenda was popcorn and a movie, served with a warm glass of shut the heck up and go to sleep.

They finally got quiet and passed out in tent city.

I overhead the following phrases that cracked me up:

  1. Aven you’re viral by verified creators!!
  2. It’s such an unexpected cabinet color. (referring to my turquoise kitchen)
  3. I love this house! It’s like a color scheme.
  4. Bro, we could get verified one day!
  5. Guys make sure to eat all of that so Waffle’s doesn’t eat it!
  6. I’m going to have diet-betes.
  7. Girl A: You had a crush on him last year. Girl B: I don’t remember.
  8. I’m taking maternity photos. (balloon shoved in shirt posing)

I woke up a little before them and whipped up a gourmet breakfast of Costco muffins cut in half. Hold your applause.

A little outside time and the parents started showing up to get their kids. I hope Aven loved it and remembers it always!
