Jeni’s Skincare Routine

Around 10 years ago I started going to the dermatologist regularly and giving more thought to the products I was putting on my face. I had just had my first child, Jackson and as a result had a horrible case of melasma or “pregnancy mask”. Before pregnancy I could go out in the sun and get a nice, even tan. After, I would go out in the sun and get this huge brown spot smack dab in the middle of my forehead. Bummer. I went in to see what could be done and they told me there wasn’t much…melasma is stubborn and sunscreen and staying out of the sun are the best ways to treat. I had more babies, and more melasma and as a result I’ve tried a TON of products. Below are my tried and true.

AM Routine:

Cleanser: Obagi, gentle and lasts for a long time!

Vitamin C serum: helps to brighten skin and lighten hyperpigmentation. I love this stuff. It makes your skin glow.

The BEST moisturizer there ever was: Biocream by Neocutis, the price tag is hefty but once you try it you won’t be able to quit it. Hydrating without being greasy and a little goes a long way. I also use their products after any laser treatments to aid in the healing process (I’m a big fan of photo-facials but more on that later). This bottle will last me over 6 months.

In the summer my face is a little more oily so I don’t need the Biocream and I switch to this. It also has an spf included. In the winter, I need more hydration and stick to the one above.

Sunscreen: The best one I’ve found with a bit of a tint to it.

PM Routine:

Wash with Obagi

Bio-serum: I had high hopes for this one. It was expensive but I totally trust my esthetician and she said it was worth it. I splurged and now I’m just sticking with it to finish the bottle. I haven’t noticed any difference in my skin but some people swear by this stuff?! Not worth it in my opinion.

This is next on my list to give a try.

Retinol- I couldn’t find the exact one I use because I think it is prescription only. I’ve been known to frequent the pharmacy in Mexico to get a good deal on this stuff.

I mix the retinol with a small amount of this and it does wonders on any dark spots, sun damage or melasma you may have. I only do these two steps a few times a week or my skin will get irritated and dry.

Finish off with the best moisturizer of all time and you’re ready for your beauty sleep!

My robe from the pictures above is on MAJOR sale. It’s my very favorite brand and feels like butter. Snag it now before it sells out!

What are your favorite skincare products that you cannot live without? I always love trying new things!
