Paige and I had the Halo resurfacing treatment at Warthan Dermatology a few weeks ago. We are so happy with our results and couldn’t wait to share all of the details with you guys.
First of all, what is halo? Halo is the world’s first and only Hybrid Fractional Laser that delivers a non-ablative and an ablative wavelength to the same microscopic treatment zone. Combining these two wavelengths creates a strong synergistic effect, resulting in ablative results with non-ablative downtime
So what the heck does that mean? Basically it’s a laser resurfacing treatment that has many benefits with less pain and less downtime compared to other laser treatments.
What are the benefits of the halo treatment?
Improve the skin’s tone and texture
Erases fine lines and wrinkles
Minimizes the look of large pores
Clears deep areas of Hyperpigmentation & Melasma
Reduces acne and trauma scars
Removes skin tags
Suitable for all skin types
The laser energy level can be adjusted for each individual patient
A complete overall skin rejuvenation treatment
I (Jeni) have had a few treatments to my face prior to this. Having babies left me with awful “pregnancy mask” also known as melasma. AnnMarie at Warthan has been working on my skin for quite some time. I first went to her years ago when my melasma looked like this…oh emmmm geeee, look at my forehead!
Throughout the years she has treated my skin with chemical peels, microdermabrasion and a series of IPL treatments. My experience with the IPL was much different than the halo. The pain during the treatment was more intense with the IPL. It also didn’t bring as many of the “coffee grinds” to the surface like the halo did. I did notice a great improvement in my overall skin texture and appearance with the IPL so that may be a good place to start if you aren’t quite ready to spend the money on the Halo.
Paige on the other hand had ZERO treatments to her face prior to this visit. We knew that because of this she would experience more redness and swelling.
So first up, we numbed. AnnMarie had us numb for an hour and 15 min. Sounds like forever but she had patients in the beginning still coming off the table after a 45 minute numb session so I was thankful for the extra 30 min.
AnnMarie got right to work, she removed the numbing cream and explained the whole process. I felt completely at ease and knew we were in the best of hands.
I was expecting the pain to be similar to the photo facials I had received before but this was so. much. easier. I had no discomfort at all. I will say that when she moved from my left cheek to my right I felt HOT. Like the worst sunburn you could ever imagine, HOT. I wanted to dunk my head in an ice bucket but she promised the heat would go away within a few hours and it did.
Here we are right after our treatment. Very red, some pinpoint bleeding but mostly just HOT.
We woke up the next morning to some swelling (Jeni) and A LOT of swelling (Paige). I’m not going to lie, I still bust out laughing thinking about getting this picture from Paige. And it may be the photo on my phone when she calls….what are best friends for?!?
After night 1 there was no pain. Everything went from hot and swollen to just itchy and dry. SO MANY spots came to the surface. Some people call them ”coffee grinds” and that’s exactly what they looked like. Around day 4 or 5 they began to come off and pretty, fresh, baby skin was exposed.
The coolest part is our skin will continue to improve over the next few months. The laser helps to promote collagen growth so the results will just get better and better. Heck yes!
If you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area I DEFINITELY recommend going to see AnnMarie. She is a DOLL and will make the entire experience a pleasant one. Mention StyleDuplicated for $150 off the halo. If you’re not quite ready to jump in to laser treatments she does everything from chemical peels, microderm, hair removal, and one of my other favorites dermaplaning. She is also super knowledgeable in skin care products. I just adore her!
And I’ll leave you with this little funny…Paige had to go to a function for her daughter’s school while her face was still super swollen. So in Paige fashion she made the most of the safari theme. Gotta love that girl!!!
That turtle comment makes me laugh every.single.time I see it!
haha me too! And the one where only half my face is working and so swollen is quite the gem as well. Goodness!
So. Freaking. Funny. Only Paige 😉
I LOVE that you share this kind of stuff! So many women want to keep These kinds of things their secrets. Your posts are so different from all the other blogs I read- you are true “girl’s Girls.” Super fun and helpful. I know prices can vary so much from one area to the next, but I would find it super helpful if you could just give ballpark figures of what we might expect to pay for these procedures. I just got botox at 40 for the 1st time after someone finally spilled the beans that they did it, and told me it was only a few hundred bucks. I had assumed all this time that it was much much more, and not something that normal girls did! I’d have done it so much sooner if I’d known!
Thank you Amanda! No secrets here ha!! It’s around $1500 for a halo treatment and an IPL is closer to $400.
Thank you so much for keeping it real and sharing your experiences so other people can make more informed decisions! i have been wanting to do a laser treatment, and even bought a series of clear & brilliant treatments I haven’t used, but it freaks.me.out!!! i am always so afraid i’m going to be the person that has a horrible reaction and is scarred for life! pretty sure i would swell really badly like paige too so glad to see that only lasted a few days.
Also the turtle comment is HYSTERICAL!! Laughed out loud when i saw that on insta!
It’s my favorite picture of Paige EVER lol
Yes thank you for being so honest and open! Makes you guys so relatable. These posts are incredibly helpful – age and life are taking a toll on my skin and I love learning about different options.
We love hearing that! 🙂
