Spring event season is in full swing! Weddings, graduations, parties, showers, Easter, Mother’s Day, so many things! Jeni and I set out to find some affordable dresses that can get you through all the soirees and lookin’ as purty as a tulip.
First off, “Marry a girl from Texas, no matter how tough things get, she’s tougher.” -Dan Rather
Dan, I am giving you the standing slow clap with the friendliest tough Texas wife smile you ever did see!
We are both wearing smalls in these. Jeni is 5’9″ and although this dress was short, it was still an ok length for a tall gal. My dress was kind of a risky choice and not something I would normally pick. You know what?! It ended up being my favorite, you just never know! The halter neck is very flattering and it ties with a thick bow that I loved! The skirt part is twirly, flirty and fabulous. It has some type of stiff something in the bottom that keeps it’s shape and for $52 I was highly impressed.
Our sandals are Valentino and are an investment piece. We both agree we would buy them again and again. I remember Jeni buying hers on our NYC girl’s trip and she had either had a garage sale or sold a bunch of stuff to use cash to pay for most of the shoes and then put the rest on a card. Totally worth it and THE most comfortable designer heels I own.
Sorry No Social Media. Oh ok. This was one of those moments when you are making a poster or some sort of word artwork where you totally misjudge and end up making a mess of it. Usually it either curves way down awkwardly or the letters get tinier and tinier and it looks so not thought out. “Ted” had to go on the other board. My apologies Ted!
Jeni’s dress is a medium and so flattering. The cinched waist is slimming and it’s just the right amount of short. Although my dress could easily be worn to a day time event, I styled it more for a wedding or evening event with the black accessories. You may have noticed my hot pink dress is the same dress as the pale pink one Jeni picked in the first photo. Great minds, my dear! I also got a small and it fit just right.
Well don’t we just look like a couple of easter peeps?! Jeni’s mint dress is classic and so pretty! She is wearing a small but could also size up to a medium for more length, especially with the liner being shorter than the lace. My dress is so cute, but inappropriately short. I think my lower butt cheek was out in public, separated from the elements only by a thin layer of lace. I power walked from my car in hopes that no one would get a peek of my blue lace hiney. SHWING! I am 5’4″ and would have definitely needed a medium. If you are short, go for it! If you are tall, it’s basically a shirt.
Both of these wedges are our go-to shoes this season. Comfortable, can be dressed up or down and won’t puncture the grass and aerate the lawn during the Easter egg hunt.
Jeni’s dress has been seen on bloggers across the US. We just had to try it for ourselves to see what the hype was all about. Believe the hype, it’s classy, sexy, springy and comes in 10 colors. Also it’s $89 and looks far more expensive. This is a great find! Jeni got a small, but size up if you are in between sizes, it runs small. Jeni’s shoes are fierce and another investment staple. Sing it with me, “these expensive, these is red bottoms, these is bloody shoes” Cardi, you are so poetic!
My dress is awesome! Not form fitting, cinched at the waist, ruffles to hide your fluffles, very forgiving and sweet!
So you want to try a jumpsuit? This is a great one to try! Since it’s off the shoulder, you shouldn’t get a wedgie and it makes it more adjustable. I am wearing an XS here and it was just right.
Jeni’s dress is so very good! It’s thick material, it has a ton of stretch to it, it’s crazy flattering. Jeni is wearing a small and it also comes in blush, white (this would be to die for on a bride at her shower or rehearsal) and black. If you need a LBD, this is the one and only $68! I can’t recommend this enough, it’s the dress I wore in our last headshot photos and we both went crazy over it. Jeni’s shoes are classic and I feel like every girl needs a pair of these in either nude or black. They run true to size and are under $50.
I will leave you with a few more favorites for your browsing pleasure.
