For the last many years, our best friend group from college has an Oprah style favorite things party. We all bring our favorite things for each person and the price limit is around $50. It’s just about the only time we can count on loving every single gift we receive. I’m suddenly reminded of a time my grandmother gave my mom a puffy absurd denim hat and the side eyes were flying all around the room. My mom doesn’t wear hats and this particular one was extra goofy and certainly not her style. I wish I could find a picture of the original but it went a little something like this.
Sheesh and Merry Christmas. People always mean well, but no one can give gifts like your best friends who know you inside and out.
Let’s get to it!
The party was at Erin’s huge and gorgeous home. As soon as I walked in I was met by Mike, her husband, and asked if I wanted an espresso martini or a French 75. What a guy! and both please.
Drinks were flowing, snacks were had, fancy water spraying toilets were tested.
The plan was for us to all wear different Judith March Christmas shirts. You can see how well the plan played out. And who participated in the plan. Up top Allison! My girl!
But for real, look how cute these are…
They have so many fun things for so many occasions.
And the personalized stuff is too good not to share!
Keeping with the tradition, we open one person’s gift at a time and then take a picture. It’s just the way it goes.
Allison: This girl is the fiesta mamasita. I have eaten more Mexican food with her than anyone else. She knows a thing or two about margaritas and she gave us some tequila, her favorite margarita mix and a Fiesta book. Olè! I couldn’t find a place to link this mix, so save it to your mental alcohol files.
Dayme: She’s our interior designer friend and she always brings the interior design gifts! I can plan on leaving with something pretty for my house, even if I think it’s a water bong for a minute. She would never, but I’m fairly sure we all had the same fleeting thought. Also, this vase is so nice and is on insane sale for like $16 or something. You like that fact checking?
You can’t tell me the way I’m artistically embracing that orchid doesn’t elicit some strong emotion. You’re welcome for that inspiration that you can carry with you into 2023.
Jenny: She tends to bring the cozies. Little did I know a lavender fuzzy robe would become an item that Griffin and I battle over daily. Shockingly, I didn’t have a robe at all, so this one warmed my robeless heart.
This picture is giving tipsy. Partially because it’s a blurry mess and partially because we are sorority squatting for absolutely no reason. Like only a tipsy Kappa Delta pledge class of 2000 lady would default to.
This robe is a must have for this price, it’s very similar to barefoot dreams and comes in 4 colors.
Erin: Our token brunette’s gift had quite the variety! A silicone multi use shot glass, stud earrings (she got us whales which has sentimental value, but I couldn’t find those online so I linked the same brand but different shape) and this awesome acrylic marker board. From what I understand, you can also use the shot glass as a wine bottle stopper. She is delinquent in turning in her photo to me and I will upload it when it makes it my way. That’s going to be in school suspension if you aren’t careful young lady.
Jeni: Precious homegirl is just coming off of a near death experience. Truly. She had a hysterectomy where anything that could go wrong did. She’s alive and well and has a new lease on life. She gave us these tribe necklaces. When times are tough, you know who your people are.
These make the best gifts for close friends or someone going through a tough time. The particular one Jeni got us is out of stock, but there are so many great options.
Me: I went all basic biatch and gave everyone Stanley tumblers. When something is that good, you just get on board with the masses. I have three of them and use one everyday. For sure a favorite thing.
These darn things are always sold out, or at least most of the colors are. That pink color is nowhere to be found unless you want to pay hundreds on a resale site.
If you want to see what we got last year, check it out here! And yes, I have had a different bf for the past three years. UGHHHHHHH haha.
Good thing these girls are my stability!
I forgot all about that ridiculous hat🤣
So hilarious! Grandma always gave strange gifts😁. She hated to shop so she was quite limited in those days. No online shopping!
All of those gifts are awesome!
So many gma stories lol
OMG Jeni I’m so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I am 15 days out from a hysterectomy and my experience (while not fun) was worth it. Hopefully all is well now. Love the favorite things party!
She’s doing so much better!
