A day in the life of P & J

A day in the life was the most requested blog post so here we are making it happen. Enjoy a peek into our riveting lives.

Jeni:

7:30 am

It’s Sunday…so we slept in. I could sleep way later than this if my kids would allow it. This guy snuck in at some point in the middle of the night.

Coffee is always first. I cannot think or talk until I’ve had a cup. Nick bought me this coffee machine one Christmas and it is the gift that keeps on giving. I love it so much. Its $700 off right now and the best gift for the coffee lover in your life.

Now back to bed for cuddles and coffee. I love the weekends.

8:30

Cavi says to get my lazy butt out of bed and let her out. I turn music on my Alexa and get some chores done. I usually start out with Christian music to start my day off…gangsta rap will have to wait until the afternoon. Laundry and dishes get done…the standard mom stuff.

9:30

Kids went with Nick to get donuts and no documentation ever takes place on his watch.

We normally go to church on Sundays but today they were doing some super bowl thing and we weren’t interested. It going to be 75 so we decide to get chores finished and take the kids on a bike ride.

The kids do better at finishing chores if I write them down and they can check them off. This laundry sorter keeps it simple for them…whites, lights or darks CHECK. I do at least a couple loads of laundry ever other day.

10:30

We walked/rode/ scooted about 3 miles and ended up at a park. Nick then had to ride J’s entirely too small bike back to the house to get the car to pick us up. Because we were done.

dog tired.

11:30

Playtime.

12:30

We had lunch on the patio at Mooyah and the kids enjoyed a shake. My mama heart melted a little when they sat on the grass together. A nice break from the arguing. It was short lived.

1:30

Grocery Store for Super Bowl Snacks.

Along with the rest of Prosper.

I’m making:

Kari’s Buffalo Chicken Dip:

Ingredients:

  • 2 (8 oz) packages of cream cheese
  • 3/4 c of Franks Red Hot Sauce
  • Rotisserie Chicken
  • 1 c shredded cheddar cheese
  • celery
  • tortilla chips

Preheat oven to 375. Store together cream cheese and hot sauce until blended. Mix in the chicken and cheese. Spread into a 9×13 baking dish. Bake for 15 min. Top with additional cheese. Bake 5 more min. Serve with tortilla chips and celery.

Kara’s Meatballs:

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages of homestyle meatballs (freezer section)
  • Large grape Jelly
  • 2 jars of Heinz chili sauce.

Dump it all in a crock pot and heat on high for 1 hour. Stir and set to warm. So dang easy.

2:30

We are heading to a super bowl party tonight so I had to wash my hair. Ugh, the least favorite of all the things for me. This Dyson Hairdryer does seem to cut down on time and this brush is my new fav.

3:30

I’m taking this class at my church. I am behind on this weeks homework (typical) so now I’m cramming 5 days into two.

4:30

My mom came over to watch Hayes so we could take the bigs to a party and not worry about him around the pool. No Chiefs gear here so I’m reppin’ the guns up tee in honor of Mahomes.

5:30

The reason I love football. Food. I’ll take it all….and a nice cold beer please.

6:30

While we cheered on the Chiefs the kids were happy as can be hanging with friends.

7:30

We headed home at halftime to relieve my mom. Apparently Hayes thoroughly enjoyed JLo’s pole skills. P took a little time out to color with Nanny before bed.

8:30: No documentation occurred because it that time of night when it’s a total $hit show.

9:30

Working on this post while watching the Lombardy Trophy Presentation. Chiefs won 31-20.

After this its makeup off and BED for me. Today was a good day. Goodnight, friends.

Paige: Oh hi.

The goal here was to take a picture of what we are doing every hour, on the hour. Don’t give me a goal if you don’t want me to absolutely freakin’ crush it. Every time. Subtle confidence 😉

7:00 am: Up and ready for coffee. I left myself approximately 3 minutes to get dressed, ready and out the door for work by the time I found the dang milk frother, which is a non negotiable in my coffee making routine.

Yes I almost always wake up with a bouffant hair style.

I had a high school senior sunrise photo shoot and needed to be there at 7:30, I skrrrrrrted in the parking lot at 7:37. Jumped my happy ass out of the car, put on my PWP game face and went to work. Extra points for me when I saw my senior. He had a 90s grunge vibe, black nail polish, a hello kitty ring, and an overall creative aura about him and I knew he was my kinda people and a welcome change from the khaki country club look that is more of the norm around here.

8:00 am: Senior shoot was well under way, it was pretty cold. Thank goodness this kid knew how to move his body and didn’t need as much direction as most of my senior boys do, so we moved quickly.

If you saw stories yesterday, you saw the very odd, junk filled, episode of hoarders style structure that we shot in. It used to be mostly clean, but the colossal mess doesn’t keep me from shooting there.

9:00 am: Home in time for breakfast with the fam minus Blake, she sleeps until noon usually.

My kids have been obsessed with these cinnamon rolls for as long as I can remember. It’s hard for me not to eat like 7 of them.

10:00 am: Crankin’ out those previews for the client. After a session, I edit two sneak peek photos and post on social that day or within 24 hours max. One goes on instagram and a different one goes on facebook. Clients super love this, so even though it’s a pain in my butt, I do it for the people. They don’t call me The People’s Photographer for nothin.

11:00 am: Zach and Kylie went to church. Griffin, Aven and Blake didn’t want to, so I stayed back with them and watched on my phone. The sermon was on the rules of marriage and it was pretty good.

12:00 pm: Griffin requested a bath and a bath bomb and I got him all set up.

1:00 pm: Tried out the hair blinger that Aven got for her birthday. It was easy and Aven loved it!

2:00 pm: I got that oh so exciting email from FabFitFun to tell me it was time to pick my stuff. So pick stuff I did.

But then also around 2pm, Pandora brilliantly decided that Dolly Parton 9 to 5 would be the best choice. And it most definitely was. It’s one of Blake’s favorite songs, so obviously we get hype.

1980s Tech snapback is from this super cool site that has all sorts of vintage sports logo stuff. Check out Vintage Brand, I got a few TX Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Tech hats.

3:00 pm: Aven and I took Waffles for a walk and went by the new house to see if there were any changes.

The wallpaper in the master is up, the stair runner is in, mirrors are done, Kylie’s closet carpet is in and most of the hardware is done.

4:00 pm: A friendly family game of Labyrinth. Griffin is highly competitive and would jump ship from team to team based on who was ahead. This is a great game that all my kids like and it’s easy to learn.

5:00 pm: Made some Superbowl snacks. Pigs in a blanket and queso. Both were the most basic possible recipes. Pigs in a blanket consisted of weenies and crescent rolls. Queso was the standard velveeta/rotel combo. Not winning any unique recipe awards.

6:00 pm: Watching. Pulling for Mahomes. Doing an occasional arm chop dance.

7:00 pm: Still watching the game. I am on sensory overload with the TV on, Griffin watching something else on an iPad, Kylie constantly asking questions and Zach tickling Griff and making him scream. www.zipit.com

8:00 pm: Writing this blog. Washing kids hair. Not documented, you can imagine the thrilling material that image would have been.

9:00 pm: Read a few chapters of Crenshaw to Aven and Kylie before they went to bed. They have the day off of school so they stayed up a little later than usual.

10:00 pm: I’m a terrible person who can’t let a good joke pass me by so I made this…

11:00 pm: finishing up photo work, about to put some anti aging BS on my 38 year old face and PTFO. Well actually I will likely search the information superhighway on my phone until midnight or later.
