Snack Attack

Wanting some new quarantine snack ideas? We are pretty sure that the entire nation has the munchies. When you are stuck at home and not in your normal routine, all the yummy snacks scream your name all day. Our jeans might be tighter, but we don’t care right now. Let’s all just vow to stay in sweat pants, enjoy the heck out of some tasty stuff and deal with any lumpy problems at a later date.

Paige: This list isn’t going to blow your mind, it’s pretty basic. These have been on repeat and are all easy to find.

The Daily Harvest smoothies are so dang good and very healthy! I also love the coconut lemon bites. They usually have a promotion going on for new customers and it’s easy to try it and quit if you aren’t eating the stuff fast enough. It all goes in the freezer anyway, so no worries if you aren’t flying through them.

Alcohol. I am normally not the drink at home type, but honestly what the heck else is there to do to break up the monotony?! My go to are these Truly lemonades and my all time favorite cocktail to make at home, deep eddy sweet tea vodka and lemonade. It’s stupid good. I love Coconut Berry RedBull by itself, but also mixes nicely with Tito’s.

Happy Tomato can be a little harder to find, I get it at Whole Foods. It’s so good. Joe T Garcia’s is one of my favorite restaurants here in Fort Worth and we always have that salsa in the fridge.

2 of my favorite snack recipes:

Crack Pretzels: from Just a Pinch Recipes

1 bag or pretzel sticks

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp lemon pepper

1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 pkg hidden valley ranch mix

3/4 c canola oil

gallon ziplock bag

Put pretzels in the ziplock bag. Mix cayenne pepper, lemon pepper, garlic powder, ranch powder and canola oil together. Pour over pretzels in ziplock bag. Leave overnight if you can and at least a couple of hours if you need your crack sooner. Spread out on a large baking sheet. Bake at 200 for 40 minutes.

Energy Bites: from Chef Savvy

Combine all of the following ingredients in a bowl. Put in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes so they are easier to roll. Roll into bites and store in the fridge.

2/3 c creamy peanut butter

1/2 c mini chocolate chips

1 c old fashioned oats

1/2 c ground flax seeds (I skip this most of the time)

2 tbsp honey

Jeni:

The first one is a game changer. It is a hatch green chili cheddar dip and oh my gah. I’m on my second tub and I hide it in the back of the fridge because I have no shame. I really like it with the crispy sea salt crackers. I tried it on sliced bell peppers and it was delicious too.

I love a good spinach dip and this one from TJs is the easiest. Julios chips make all dips better.

Root-beer floats and allllll the candy. That makes me one happy girl.

I love a good margarita on the rocks and the black cherry white claws are my fav. Cheeeeeers. My alcohol intake is way up thanks to quarantine.

Cheese its are kinda meh on their own but use our friend JV’s recipe and they are on a different level. Make these asap!

Jenny V’s Spicy Cheese-Its

  • 1 Box of Cheese-its
  • 1/2 c canola oil
  • 1 packet of ranch seasoning
  • 3-5 tbs red pepper flakes

Happy snacking!
