Nick and I spent a fabulous 48 hours away a few weekends ago. We decided to stay at The Joule and it did not disappoint. A funky, boutique hotel in the middle of downtown Dallas was the perfect spot for us to enjoy a kid free weekend.
We checked in Friday evening and relaxed a bit before a late dinner at The Charles. The food here is incredible. We started with the wood fired oysters and y’all!!! I don’t even like oysters but they had me sold at “pepperoni butter”. Delicious! We also had the Foccacia de Charles and the butter lettuce for a starter. Both so good. For dinner we split the Cascarecce Amatriciana (homemade pasta in the yummiest tomato based sauce with meat and bacon..my mouth is watering just thinking about it) and “the pie” which they change weekly. This week it was a pot pie with a Chicken Alfredo filling. Yes, please.
We slept in the next morning and had room service coffee. Is there anything better than room service coffee?! Such a treat. Paige and Zach met us at the spa. The guys chose to just enjoy the steam room and pool while we made the wiser choice to get massages. When Derek and Phillip called our names we were like nooooo….we both prefer female masseuses but they were freaking amazing. Super professional and made us feel totally at ease. One of the best massages I’ve ever had.
We walked (the guys rode scooters) to lunch at Commissary where Paige had the prettiest latte and we had some dang good food.
A little shopping then the guys went to a bar to catch up on whatever games were on and we worked a little on our laptops while watching Surviving R. Kelly on Lifetime. Whoa. Disturbing stuff.
Our group of besties met us at Javier’s (one of our favorite spots) and we all pretended like we were 15 years younger, stayed out too late and had the best time.
Time away to relax and enjoy your husband and your best friends is so good for the soul. Thanks to the Grandma’s for holding down the fort.
Fun weekend!! I love tHat coat!
It was such a great time!!
